Carolyn Revie (McMaster) started dancing at the age of 4 with Maureen McCann in Bangor,
firstly at St. Comgalls on the Brunswick Road and later at the Royal British Legion.
She took part in many festivals throughout Northern Ireland and became a champion
dancer at a young age. Carolyn was part of the Northern Ireland Tourist Board’s “Cavalcade”
and alongside Mary O’Hara and Peter Tomelty travelled extensively in England and
Scotland promoting Northern Ireland as a tourist destination.
At the age of 15 Carolyn
started dancing with Patricia Mulholland in Belfast and won the Northern Ireland
Championships on 3 occasions. She took the leading roles in the Patricia Mulholland
Irish Ballet Company and at a later stage assisted Miss Mulholland in rehearsals
and wardrobe.
Carolyn ran her own successful Irish Dancing school for 10 years in
the 1960’s and 1970’s before taking up a career with North Down Borough Council.
Carolyn
has 3 children, all of whom have successful careers in the dance world. She has great
interest in Irish Dance and in particular the Revie School.
