Michael Revie studied at the Lower and Upper Schools of the Royal Ballet School for
eight years before joining the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Dusseldorf in 1993. In 1997
he became a principal dancer with the Zurich Ballet. Many roles were created on him,
most notably the leading role in 'Mozartina' for which he was nominated for a Laurence
Olivier Award in London in 2001.
Michael joined the Birmingham Royal Ballet as a
principal dancer in 2002 where he demonstrated his formidable virtuoso talents in
a broad range of roles. His repertoire there included various ballets by many leading
choreographers in the better known ballets such as The Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker,
Giselle, Romeo and Juliet, and many more.
Michael joined the South African Ballet
Theatre as a Principal Dancer in July 2005 where he extended his repertoire to include
the principal role in Coppelia, Don Quixote, Swan Lake, Traviata. Last year he joined
Mzansi Dance Productions, a company whose Artistic Director works in a wide variety
of styles and techniques including the Classical and he has had the opportunity to
choreograph his own full length ballet.
